Estadio Cuauhtémoc hosts football, including Club Puebla matches, and has a history tied to major international tournaments. The stadium was built from 1965 to 1968 to host football matches during the 1968 Summer Olympics. Designed by Mexican architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, it opened on Sunday, October 6, 1968, and later hosted FIFA World Cup matches in 1970 and 1986.

The playing field measures 105 m by 68 m. A mural by Puebla-born architect Jesús Corro Ferrer depicts Huey Tlatoani Cuauhtémoc and Macuilxóchitl, described by the club as the god of the game. It measures 24 by 3.2 meters.

Capacity figures range from 46,817 to 51,726 after renovation.
